Black Moth premiere video via Metal Hammer for first single from upcoming album

Click image above to watch video

"Punishing, pummeling riff-rock that splits the difference between Queens of the Stone Age and Black Sabbath. Better yet, singer Harriet Bevan can growl and howl with the best of 'em, but she also packs a wicked riot-grrrl shout." -- SPIN

"Rampant heaviosity with ferocious invention. One of the finest debut albums you'll hear all year" -- Kerrang

Britain's young new heavy rock heroes Black Moth announce the first single and video from their forthcoming new album Condemned To Hope coming this fall. The haunting, heaving track "Room 13" gets a fittingly dark treatment in the video clip shot in recently unlocked servants quarters of a 200 year old haunted mansion. BORIS album Noise available today, BoilerRoom.TV live stream with Merzbow June 24th

"Boris excel at playing around with magnitudes, and on their new LP Noise, all of the panoramas the band has crafted over the past two decades have coalesced into one massive, smoldering landscape." -- Pitchfork

Japanese trio BORIS' latest album Noise is available in stores and online today. A deluxe version of the album is available digitally with 6 bonus live tracks of BORIS greats. Available at digital retail HERE. The band also announces an upcoming special drumless drone performance with occasional collaborator Merzbow that will live stream on June 24th via BoilerRoom.tv. The special show will be available HERE.

BORIS recently added new North American tour dates, including FYF Fest in Los Angeles in late August. Please see complete dates below.

The trio debuted the first album track "Quicksilver" previously via Pitchfork, which is available HERE. (Direct Soundcloud link HERE.) Stereogum recently premiered the video for "Vanilla" which is available to watch/share HERE.

BORIS has always demolished expectations of what a band can do musically and aesthetically. In keeping with that tradition, they again flip the script by serving up their most all-encompassing effort to date. Noise is an amplification of BORIS' endless pursuit of musical extremes while moving aggressive, intense rock into new territories.

In writing Noise, BORIS was intent upon condensing all that the band had explored over the years, in order to create something more bold, streamlined and powerful. And, upon completion, the band considers Noise its most defining effort, stating, "If we had to suggest just one album for those unfamiliar with BORIS' music, we will pick this for sure." That's a bold statement from a band having released over 20 albums covering a vast array of sounds. Yet somehow throughout the album's 8 song, 58 minute duration, the band masterfully intermingles sludge-rock, blistering crust punk, shimmering shoegaze, epic thunderous doom, psychedelic melodies and just about everything else they've ever done.

Over the course of BORIS' three previous Sargent House albums (Heavy Rocks, Attention Please and New Album) the band sought to expand its musical vision ever further. And, the results helped redefine the band's already iconoclastic sound. However, in early 2013 they decided to return to their classic trio lineup moving forward: drummer/vocalist Atsuo, guitarist/vocalist Wata and bassist/guitarist/vocalist Takeshi. Having been able to explore many new ideas as a quartet in recent years, the band was concerned about logistics, until their very successful residency shows and tour in the U.S. convinced them that BORIS could return to the simpler, solid trio without sacrificing artistic growth. Now, having rebuilt the classic trio's "equilateral triangle" they're heavier, louder, more confident and incisive than ever before.

Noise will be available everywhere (excluding Japan) on LP, CD and download via Sargent House on June 17th, 2014.

Qui share new video for album title track, announce summer tour dates

Click image above to watch video

"Qui are back at it, dosing their shreddy punk tantrums with arty aplomb and surprising harmony." -- SPIN

L.A. duo Qui share a new video today for the title track from their new album Life, Water, Living... The clip is available to watch/share HERE. Qui also launch western tour dates at the end of the month, paired with Seattle power-duo Lozen (featuring Hozoji Matheson-Margullis of Helms Alee). Please see all dates below.

Qui's recently release album Life, Water, Living... is available to stream/share HERE.

SPIN recently debuted two of the album's videos: The clip for "Mucho Sex in America" directed by Laban Pheidias (Justin Timberlake, Billie Joe & Norah Jones, et al.), available to watch/share HERE (direct Vimeo link). And, the exploration of inter-band bromance of "Whateryadoin?" available to watch/share HERE.

If the third full length by L.A. duo Qui sounds like a radical departure, you probably were never really listening properly in the first place. Sure, perfectly taut vocal harmonies and precise, sparse instrumentation supplants much of the band's early fume-huffing punk-noise here, but their penchant for challenging, button-pushing ideas is stronger than ever. Qui also employed harmonies and experimental structures on their previous album Love's Miracle (2007) with former vocalist David Yow (The Jesus Lizard). But, Life, Water, Living... is clearly the band's most meticulously refined effort at using melody and harmony as subversive weapons.

After a 5-year absence, Qui is once again back to the original duo formed in 2000 by drummer/vocalist Paul Christensen and guitarist/vocalist Matt Cronk. Life, Water, Living... features inventive song structures and warped pop sensibilities reminiscent of early Sparks and Frank Zappa with Queen-style harmonies... or something like if Badfinger were the Melvins. Throughout, it's an album that subtly commands attention as it shifts from a soft whisper to a chuckle to a scream.

Life, Water, Living... was produced by renowned engineer Toshi Kasai and Melvins drummer Dale Crover at Entourage Studios in Los Angeles. The album was released on February 25th, 2014 on LP, CD and download in partnership with Cobraside Distribution.

Analog synth-pop auteur Oscillator Bug premieres first track via SPIN from forthcoming album, Hood Internet & BMSR affiliate's anticipated debut

"Oscillator Bug's strange sound exists at the previously unforeseen axis of Dan Deacon's maximal brainiac pop and Gary Numan's arty synthetic dream." -- SPIN

Chicago analog synth psych-pop outfit Oscillator Bug premiere the first track from their forthcoming full length today via SPIN. The infectious mind-melting/melding track "Feel Rif" is available to listen to and share HERE

Oscillator Bug is like a force of nature in the age of climate change: unpredictable. Borrowing from the revolution-minded mass hallucinations of 60s psych as well as weirdo bedroom pop and several decades worth of avant-garde synth experimentalism, Oscillator Bug is a wild, infectious and occasionally disturbing rendering of 21st Century popular music.

Oscillator Bug's Zaid Maxwell has been making music in the Windy City for several years, playing in various bands (including Shapers with The Hood Internet's Steve Reidell) and recording others. While currently playing in a couple of more explorative and caustic outfits, Maxwell was compelled to extract these 10 auditory earwigs of pop goo that had taken roost in his brain. The resulting Bursts of the Million is tunefully fun and twisted Candyland passage through someone else's fever dream that pulls listeners ever-inward.

Album opener "Enavasion" kicks things off with one of the more jagged tunes, reminiscent of Ween's finest post-funk colliding with early Devo and driven by Maxwell's jaw-dropping falsetto vocal acrobatics. The title track pits a delicate lullaby vocal melody over a Suicide-style organ rhythm loop. Elsewhere, the hook-laden "Feel Rif" sounds like a frenzied march of warbling synth creatures and guitars that Maxwell tries desperately to keep under control, like the Sorcerer's Apprentice, singing in alternating falsetto and baritone as a shimmering melody leads into a cathartic eruption of electro-euphoria reminiscent of Of Montreal's glammy artrock. Other tracks like "Glimmi Gloe" and "Don't Go To Sleep" further emphasize the album's primal, hallucinatory glory. At times it's like "Raspberry Beret" era Prince gone lo-fi, other times a Tangerine Dream nightmare, and elsewhere a godhead rendering of Future Islands in the sky with John Lennon. Point being: buy the ticket, and take this ride.

Bursts of the Million will be available on LP, CD and download on September 9th, 2014 via Dymaxion Groove

Adebisi Shank share first song from forthcoming new album

"This is a raucous, fun ride which you'll want to be a part of. 9/10" -- Rock Sound
"Baffling, terrifying and utterly riveting." -- NME

Ireland's multiple award-nominated trio Adebisi Shank share the first track from their forthcoming release This Is The Third Album of A Band Called Adebisi Shank. The song "Big Unit" is available to stream and share HERE

This Is The Third Album of A Band Called Adebisi Shank: an explosion of optimism and musical Glasnost, an Arab Spring of instrumental harmony embracing all things awesome. It's the sound of the Berlin Wall falling down. It's the sound of hashtag winning. It's the sound of musclemen with lightbulb heads that rupture from their own perfection (see cover art). In a word, it's the sound of triumph... no matter the consequences.

"We were trying to make something euphoric and huge, a universe of our own imagination that we could escape into," says bassist and masked man Vin. "Our inspirations were more cinematic and fantastical." This Is The Third Album From A Band Called Adebisi Shank bursts with pure rock anthems with undeniably danceable structures. Alongside the band's penchant for unusual instrumentation is their clever use of vocoder-effected vocals which seems to invite listeners to sing along with our robot overlords.

In creating the album's imaginary universe, Adebisi Shank drew on a hodgepodge of inspirations, including ELO, Enya, Mike Oldfield, Pixar animated films, Crash Bandicoot video game and Game of Thrones. In 2013, the Wexford, Ireland trio consisting of guitarist/vocodist Lar Kaye, drummer Mick Roe and bassist Vin relocated to a secluded house in the wilds of county Wicklow, to avoid distractions and let their imaginations run wild. Writing and recording daily, the result is a multiverse of musical possibilities.

Album opener "World In Harmony" begins deceptively like a dying 8-bit robot's version of Queen's "We Are The Champions" before erupting into a full-on anthem filled with stadium chants, digital voices, flavor-blasted guitar riffs, chirping synths and pounding rhythms. Elsewhere, "Mazel Tov" portrays a strangely brave new world wherein early 90s digital funk dance pop meets contemporary indie rock to produce a stompingly catchy tune. Likewise, "Turnaround" is led by a cheery synth melody reminiscent of late-80s pop, while aggressive rhythms and chopping guitars pigpile on top. Unlike the previous album's cavalcade of guest musicians, this recording consists mainly of the core trio writing, performing and producing, with just a few contributions from outsiders - one of which being Lar's father, Leonard Kaye adding accordion to "Turnaround."

This Is The Third Album of A Band Called Adebisi Shank will be available everywhere on LP, CD and download via Sargent House on August 12th, 2014.
