Melted Bodies share Xiu Xiu remix from forthcoming revisions album 'Enjoy Yourself With Friends'

"Like the soundtrack for the sickest Adult Swim cartoon you’ve never seen...This is one of those once-in-a-generation bands that pull in influences from all directions with an oversized tractor beam only to blend them all together into a tasty mush with a lot of heart and nary a fuck to give with regards to conventions." #1 2020 Album of The Year -- Metal Sucks

"Throw David Lynch in the pit of a 2020 grind show and the noise that it makes might resemble Melted Bodies... The soundtrack to a radioactive spaghetti western where everyone's throwing up." -- Kerrang

"Crams mathcore, synth pop, 90's alternative, indie, and more into a cohesive musical cocktail. Lathered in sarcasm, tongue in cheek sociopolitical commentary, and caffeinated energy, this record is a true riot." -- Metal Injection

Old Moon announce debut full length 'Altars', Bandcamp Daily New & Notable featured pick!

"Jangly, hooky post-punk from New Hampshire that strikes that key balance from its '80s forebears of romanticism and gloom." -- Bandcamp Daily

“A descent into a swirling world where shimmering noise meshes with clamoring guitars, pounding drums, and melodic hooks.” — Idiotec

Rural New Hampshire band Old Moon announce their debut full length today. Hear and share Altars via Bandcamp and Soundcloud

The project of singer and multi instrumentalist Tom Weir, Old Moon seamlessly blends clamoring post punk rhythms with jangling guitars and shimmering noise. Old Moon’s new album Altars is a descent into a swirling world full of driving basslines, melodic hooks and emotive lyrics. The album is an assured debut from Weir who plays all instruments on the record.

Altars is Old Moon’s first full length record after a string of EPs and demos throughout 2020, and its first release on up and coming label A La Carte Records. The album was recorded by Weir in rural New Hampshire over the fall and winter of 2020, mixed in Portland and San Francisco by Shaun Durkan of Weekend, and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Western Massachusetts' Dead Air Studios.

Recent descriptions of Old Moon’s music from peers include, “like Blitz if they were on Slumberland Records” and “like For Against playing with True Widow’s gear.” While these descriptions ring true, Altars is more than just a rehashing of tropes. Old Moon has created a sound of its own that seamlessly blends genres and references its forebears without falling prey to familiar patterns.

Altars is available for download on July 9th, 2021 and on vinyl in late July via A La Carte Records. Orders are available HERE.

Thought Leaders (ex-Totimoshi, The Mass) streaming album early, heavy 80s post-punk FFO: Bauhaus, Killing Joke, Southern Death Cult

"Driving, atmospheric, and often very catchy. Think (early) Echo & the Bunnymen, The Chameleons, and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry for some reference points. It's a great reminder that not all music labeled as "post-punk" has to be devoid of big-screen melodic hooks." -- No Echo

Bay Area heavy post-punk band Thought Leaders are streaming their forthcoming full length debut early today via No Echo. The new band is made up of underground punk/metal vets, including ex-members of The Mass (Crucial Blast Records), Totimoshi and Dora Flood. Hear and share In Wastelands album HERE. (Direct Bandcamp.)

Metal Injection recently launched the video for "Saturday Night Leave" HERE. (Direct YouTube.) New Noise Magazine previously shared the lead single "Jane Doe's Estate" HERE. Outburn Magazine shared "Come Evening" HERE

Things change. We’ve all become painfully aware of that in recent times. And Thought Leaders is a band thoroughly borne of change.

The Bay Area based modern, aggressive post-punk quartet dishes out addictive, saturated songs in the vein of Killing Joke, Bauhaus and Gang of Four. However, the band’s sound is an interesting pivot for its members — coming from backgrounds in heavy prog acts The Mass (Crucial Blast Records) and Totimoshi, psychedelic Brit-pop Dora Flood and wiry post-rockers Lower Forty Eight — some of whom have also switched instruments in this new configuration.

The band had just formed in early 2019, issuing its debut 4-song EP Wires Crossed in April that year and begun work on a full length album In Wastelands in early 2020 when the world suddenly ground to a halt.

In Wastelands wasn’t supposed to be made this way. Pre-COVID, the plan was to record the album with Andrew Oswald (of Marbled Eye) at Santo Studio in West Oakland in June 2020. They had five songs done and four more in demo form when everything shut down. So the band mobilized. They all went mobile and committed to a fully remote recording process. In May, Kirk recorded drums for the five completed songs. Ville, Tyler and Andrew each recorded their parts in their home studios while still negotiating and refining the remaining songs to record. It was a gamble, but they wanted to do something.

With five songs completed, the band finished writing the remaining four and everyone once again recorded their parts separately at their homes. Files were sent to Tyler to mix. The process revealed that the band were onto something. Songs they had never played together began to take on a life of their own. And just as suddenly, they realized they had a powerful LP. Mixes were finished in January 2021 and sent to Justin Weis at Trakworx for mastering. The outcome is an incredibly satisfying album that incorporates elements of post-punk, metal and goth without drifting into cliches of any of these styles.

Thought Leaders was formed when Tyler Cox (drums, The Mass) and Andrew Lund (bass, The Mass; guitar, Lower Forty-Eight) decided to start writing music in the vein of dark, gritty post-punk bands from the 80s, pulling from a wide array of influences like early Echo and the Bunnymen, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Wire. Singer Ville V, no stranger to the sound that was being constructed, joined and immediately began contributing lyrics, melodies, and music of his own. Kirk Snedeker was invited to play drums and was a perfect fit, having grown up absorbing many of the same influences. The band works collaboratively, with all members contributing musical ideas and production to create a sonic whole much greater than the sum of its parts.

In Wastelands will be available for download on July 9th, 2021 via King Of Sticks label. Pre-orders are available HERE

Year of No Light stream forthcoming album ahead of release via Decibel Magazine, 20th anniversary box set out Friday

Top-tier post-rock, suspenseful throughout and culminating in an explosive, cathartic climax.” -- Brooklyn Vegan

Bordeaux, France post-metal sextet Year of No Light are streaming their forthcoming fifth studio album Consolamentum today via Decibel Magazine. Hear/share Consolamentum album HERE.

Watch & share the epic music video for "Réalgar" via YouTube HERE

Consolamentum is the band's first album on Pelagic Records. To celebrate joining the label and Year of No Lights's 20th anniversary, they will release a limited edition deluxe wooden box set of the band's entire discography, titled Mnemophobia on July 2nd. The handmade, hand-silkscreened wooden box features 12 vinyl LPs in 6 gatefold sleeves, exclusive colored vinyl variants, a slipmat, metal pin, patch and poster. For more information, see HERE

Year of No Light's lengthy, sprawling compositions of towering walls of guitars and sombre synths irradiate a sense of dire solemnity and spiritual gravity, and couldn't be a more fitting soundtrack for such grim medieval scenarios. But there is also the element of absolution, regeneration, elevation, transcendence in the face of death. Consolamentum is dense, rich and lush and yet somehow feels starved and deprived.

It comes as no surprise that ever since the beginning of their career, the band have had an obsession for the fall of man and salvation through darkness. The term “consolamentum” describes the sacrament, the initiation ritual of the Catharic Church, which thrived in Southern Europe in the 12th - 14th Century – a ritual that brought eternal austereness and immersion in the Holy Spirit.

“There's a thread running through all of our albums”, says the band, collectively “an exploration of the sensitive world that obeys a certain telos, first fantasized ("Nord") and reverberated ("Ausserwelt"), then declaimed as a warning ("Tocsin"). The deeper we dig, the more the motifs we have to unveil appear to us. Yes, it's a bit gnostic. This album is invoked after the Tocsin, it's the epiphany of the Fall."

With debut album Nord (2006) and sophomore release Ausserwelt (2010), the band made

themselves a name in the European avant-metal scene. Extensive tours of Europe, North America and Russia in 2013 and 2014, including two appearances at Roadburn festival, Hellfest and a spectacular performance in a 17th Century fortress in the Carpathian mountains introduced them to a broader and quickly growing international audience.

With their seminal 3rd album Tocsin, released in 2013, Year Of No Light reached the peak of their career thus far – a logical decision that Consolamentum was made with the same team again: recorded and mixed by Cyrille Gachet at Cryogene in Begles / Bordeaux, mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side.

“We wanted this album to sound as organic and analog as possible”, comments the band. “All tracks were recorded live. The goal was to have the most natural, warm and clean takes possible, to give volume to the dynamics of the songs. We aimed to have a production with a singular personality.”

For the adept listener, Consolamentum seems to be venturing deeper into the dark and claustrophobic spheres explored on Tocsin – but the band doesn't conceive of the evolution of their music in a linear way, as it would be apparent from looking at their discography.

“It’s more a matter of sonic devotion. Music against modern times. Year Of No Light” is above all a praxis. We wanted intensity, trance, climax and threat, all of them embedded in a bipolar and mournful ethos."

Consolamentum is huge, poignant, frightening, sublime, smothering and cathartic – and, much like Decibel Magazine says of its predecessor, it's “audacious, memorable and supremely confident."

Consolamentum will be available on 2xLP, CD and digital on July 2nd, 2021 via Pelagic Records. Preorders are available HERE
