Swiss band Torpedo launch "HELL" video from upcoming album on Broken Clover Records

"An epic symphony combining noise rock; industrial; ’70’s influences; and elements of sludge, drones waves, psychedelia, and spoken word...A palpable darkness dominated by raw riffs." -- New Noise Magazine

Lausanne, Switzerland trio Torpedo share a new video from their forthcoming album Orpheo_Nebula today via Echoes & Dust. Watch and share "HELL" HERE. (Direct YouTube.)

The song is also available to stream exclusively on Bandcamp.

Founded in 2016 in the Swiss city of Lausanne, Torpedo was then made up of Carole Obère, on vocals and guitar, Jérôme Diserens on bass and keyboard, and machines as only companions. The group draws its energy from its beginnings in an industrial, post-apocalyptic and rough universe approaching no-wave and kraut with a touch of punk, while clinging to the force of wild nature carrier of hope.

Thus, in 2018, when conceiving their first album in remote collaboration with Antoine Pfammatter on drums, the duo escaped from their urban and oppressive environment, to hide in a small house on the Irish west coast. It was there, facing the Atlantic Ocean, to the sounds of the crashing waves and the wind whistling through the windows of a house haunted by - undoubtedly - tortured spirits, that Torpedo recorded their first album Sphynx. Self-produced, it was released in April 2019. We

hear echoes of Sonic Youth, Siouxsie & the Banshees and hints of grunge.

Two months earlier, on February 14th, 2019, the duo met Andries Hannaart. Between the Dutch drummer and the duo, it's love at first sight. A lightning that falls on the drums, perfectly complementing a voice that chants, murmurs and spits, noisy guitar riffs, bordering on punk, powerful and bewitching bass lines and deep cosmic sound atmospheres.

Having become a trio, Torpedo has found the perfect balance. This is perhaps what prompted the

group to record their second LP live (vocals, guitar, bass and drums) in early 2020. taking refuge in

their premises, in a newly confined world. This absurd external environment becomes fertile

ground for the development of a powerful and saving work. Entitled Orpheo_ Nebula, the

rock'n'roll, noise and industrial piece built around six poetic texts comes to crown an ultra coherent

artistic path. A sincere approach that grips the guts with each listen, transforming the listening

experience into a shamanic, introspective and overwhelming adventure.

Orpheo_Nebula will be available on LP and download on Broken Clover Records. Pre-orders are available HERE

The Schizophonics drop "Creature" single from forthcoming album, full US tour starts September 7th

"The wildest band in America." -- Spotify For Artists

"Makers of high octane, soulful garage punk." -- Brooklyn Vegan

"The explosive live act proudly evokes the high energy rock’n’roll of The MC5, merged with the aggressive rhythms of 60s Memphis soul underground for a relentless blast of fun." -- Big Takeover

“The kind of Rock rawkus that makes me shake my ass like I’m possessed by the spirit of MC5 and Little Richard at the same time. This band’s songs don’t just exist to be heard but to be felt deep down in your soul!” — CvltNation

San Diego trio The Schizophonics share a new single from their forthcoming fourth album today via New Noise Magazine. Hear and share "Creature" HERE. (Direct YouTube.)

The band recently launched the video for "Won Your Love", a recent live show favorite, available to watch and share via YouTube. The band previously issued the lead single "Desert Girl" via YouTube, Spotify and all other DSPs. CvltNation hosted "Underneath The Moonlight" HERE.

The band just recently wrapped up an extensive tour of Europe, and will be very busy for the next year with tour dates around the world. Extensive North American dates kick off on September 7th. Please see current dates below.

Over the last few years, The Schizophonics have built up a formidable reputation around the world as an explosive live act. Tapping into the same unstoppable combination of rock 'n' roll energy and showmanship that fueled The MC5 in the heyday of the Grande Ballroom, their wild live show is heavily influenced by artists like James Brown, Iggy Pop, Jimi Hendrix, Little Richard, and The Sonics

Singer/guitarist Pat Beers and drummer Lety Beers formed the band in San Diego in 2009 and have worked tirelessly since then, playing hundreds of shows around the globe. In 2013 they were recruited as the backing/opening band for El Vez, which helped the band make a name for itself in Europe. Since then, they've played in numerous countries, and supported tours by like-minded acts like Rocket From The Crypt, Little Barrie, The Woggles and have opened for the Damned, DEVO, The Hives and Cage The Elephant. Shindig Magazine described their live show "Like watching some insane hybrid of WAYNE KRAMER, JAMES BROWN, and the Tasmanian Devil.”

The band is more than just a live act; they're also committed to writing great memorable songs. Their new album Hoof It on Pig Baby Records due in Fall 2022 was recorded by Dean Reis at Singing Serpent studio (Plosivs, RFTC) and mixed by Steve Kaye at Sun King Studios.

Hoof It will be available on LP, CD and download on September 2nd, 2022 via Pig Baby Records. Pre-orders are available HERE.

PINEID (Zappa Band, Dethklok, Dr. John members) streaming debut album early via Invisible Oranges

"The talent in this band is off the charts... The initial attack may very well knock you onto your ass if you're not ready.” -- Metal Injection

“Blue Doom wields heaviness as a part of a whole, never allowing aggression to fend for itself alone and yet never fully distancing itself, either. Sublime prog rock grooves meander into harrowing gulches, and blast beats transform into quiet, contemplative reflection: modeled after the forces of change that drive our lives, Blue Doom is a concept album prone to exciting shifts in demeanor.” — Invisible Oranges

Los Angeles band Pineid are streaming their forthcoming debut album Blue Doom ahead of release today via Invisible Oranges. Hear and share Blue Doom HERE. (Direct Bandcamp.)

Metal Injection recently launched first single "The Tick" HERE

Prog-rock. Concept album. Two terms that punk rock obliterated from the annals of cool. And yet, here it is 2022 and new L.A. venture Pineid has thrown down the gauntlet to prove that progressive leaning heavy rock can be powerful and challenging, concept albums can convey existential angst and fury.

But as musicianship goes, this is no ordinary band. It features guitarist Jamie Kime (The Zappa Band, Dr. John, Grammy winner with Zappa Plays Zappa), bassist Pete Griffin (Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, Dethklok, Dr. John, Grammy winner with Zappa Plays Zappa), drummer James Pope (Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra, The Gentlemen of Leisure) and vocalist/guitarist Jeff Sites (Butcher) making perfectly and cleverly executed post-metal punk rock.

Pineid’s 9-song debut album Blue Doom was produced by Toshi Kasai, known for his work with Melvins, Tool, Robert Fripp, Keiji Haino and many more. Blue Doom is the fledgling release from a new label started by Kasai and Sites called Sympatry Records. Some sonic touchstones include Voivod, Melvins, Tool, King Crimson, U.S. Maple, et al.

“I say this with some trepidation, but Blue Doom is a concept album,” explains Sites. “It is about the things that cause us to make drastic changes in our lives. Some of it is prescriptive, some of it personal, some is paleoanthropology. Lyrically, I try to examine setting out, false destinations, trials, anxiety, forgiveness and plunging into certain death. The music oscillates between supporting this narrative, and serving as a reminder that all stories are simplifications and vulnerable to destruction at the hands of reality.”

“The band members have been friends for a long time,” Sites continues. “Careers, families, life and other musical endeavors conspired to make the writing process a challenge. We did nearly all of the compositions in pairs. This meant that I drove around town with a USB stick full of session files for over a year. As it happened, the world ground to a halt right as we began to record. Getting into the studio for even a day or two took weeks to plan. We were not immune to the feelings of uncertainty and rebalancing of priorities with which most everyone dealt. In a way, the difficulties we faced in the process mirrored the story we wanted to tell. Much of the credit goes to Toshi for holding it together. He did a lot to keep the process organic and adaptive when so much else had gone virtual and synthetic.”

Blue Doom will be available on CD and download on August 26th, 2022 via Sympatry Records. Vinyl LP release date TBD. Pre-orders are available at www.sympatryrecords.com

High Heavens (ex-New Wet Kojak, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, Edsel, Crime In Choir) issue new single "Life Is A Loan Shark"

“A moodier sound indicative of Angelo Badalamenti’s soundtrack work and the style of the late Julee Cruise.” — Rock and Roll Globe

Austin band High Heavens debut a new single today via Rock'n'Roll Globe. Hear and share the track "Life is a Loan Shark" HERE. (Direct via Bandcamp HERE.)

The band's superb full length album Springtime Don't Call is available to stream HERE.

The High Heavens story begins in 1996 when Austin, TX emo-punk troubadours Glorium were invited to do a southern US tour with Washington, DC legends Fugazi. This is where Glorium guitarist Ernest Salaz (and later of the moody dark pop band I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness) met Fugazi’s Front of House engineer Nick Pellicciotto (from DC’s Edsel and New Wet Kojak).

Fast-forward to Austin in 2017, and the two friends formed the beginnings of High Heavens, a band built on their same musical interests of the last 10 years. The band’s lineup was complete with keyboardist Jeremy Erwin, bassist Jonathan Skaggs (from San Francisco’s Crime in Choir), and the engaging, effervescent vocals from one of Austin’s favorite sons, John Matthew Walker.

Their first single and album Springtime Don’t Call was recorded and produced by Stuart Sikes (Loretta Lynn/Jack White, Modest Mouse, A Giant Dog, Sweet Spirit, and The Sword to name a few).

The band was able to play once in 2021 during the pandemic when tensions arose. Keyboardist Erwin had enough of Austin and moved to Colorado, and Pelliciotto and Skaggs decided to pursue other musical interests. It was during this time that High Heavens transformed. Ernest and Johnny decided to record a few more songs with Stuart without a band. Ernest reached out to his former Glorium rhythm section of George Lara (now with ‘60s Chicano soul band Eddie & The Valients and San Antonio pop band The Please Help) on bass and Juan Ramos (The Please Help) on drums, and with a skeletal framework recorded a few basic tracks.

Additional recording was done at The BBQ Shack by Austin heavy garage/psych/hardcore musician Jason Morales (guitarist for Tia Carrera, Black Mercy, Migas and Olympia, WA’s Helltrout.)

Old time friend Conrad Keely of …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead played additional keyboards on “Life is a Loan Shark”, as well as sax and Rhodes piano on “Hundred Bullets”.

“Life is a Loan Shark” is the first single, a dreamy pop song about boyhood memories and lost love. Its synth-heavy sound inspired by Angelo Badalamenti’s Twin Peaks and ‘50s-era Ritchie Valens, with keyboardist Jeremy Erwin flying in tracks from his home in scenic Nederland, Colorado.

High Heavens is currently rehearsing with new members and will play shows all around Texas starting in November 2022.

Blackwater Holylight's Sunny Faris & Night Heron's Cam Spies launch dark synth-doom band WHIMZ, share first single

“A bleak, synthy good time.” — Metal Injection

Portland, OR synth-doom duo WHIMZ share the first single from their forthcoming album PM226 today via Metal Injection. Hear and share "AM2" HERE. (Direct Bandcamp.)

Sunny Faris (vocalist/bassist and founder of Blackwater Holylight) and Cam Spies (Night Heron) have been friends for years. Cam recorded the first BWHL record several years ago and they hadn’t had a chance to collaborate again, until 2021 when they decided to spend a day in the studio to see what emerged. The result was a seamless blending of their two projects: dark, synth heavy, austere doom-pop, with hauntingly beautiful vocal harmonies, and sexy bass lines.

Sunny’s characteristic voice is immediately recognizable from opening track “AM1”. Although it may at first seem confusing to hear her singing over low-end rich, heavy synthesizer and vintage drum machines, it quickly becomes apparent how perfectly suited her voice is for these songs. While the music evokes the icy, consumer excess bliss of mid- to late-80s synth pop, Sunny’s melancholic voice permeates like the angelic harmonies of Julie Cruise and Cocteau Twins

The emotionally intense, melodically lush shoegazey doom of Blackwater Holylight’s widely hailed 2021 album Silence/Motion provides a good touchstone for WHIMZ, but Night Heron’s pawn shop deep collection of carefully curated retro synth instrumentation and Cam’s tasteful production also gives the album both its skeleton and a wealth of subtle and clever tones tucked neatly into each song.

Upon completing the 5-song, 26-minute album they decided to release it on Portland label Literal Gold Records, and assembled a live band which includes members of YOB and Spoon Benders joining Faris and Spies.

PM226 will be available on LP, CD and download on October 28th, 2022 via Literal Gold Records. Pre-orders are available HERE

"Heavy, catchy madness:" Austin trio Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol drop heaviest, hookiest single of the year, tour w/ King Buffalo in September

“Fuzzed-out, speaker-exploding groove that's both sonically excruciating and intoxicatingly alluring. Rock'n'roll to the core, the Austin-based band has clearly taken notes from noise rock and doom on how to achieve this kind of duality, and then dialed up the formula to new absurd levels… They find a weird sweet spot of harshness and catchiness that goes down like a greasy, gut-busting bad decision.” — Invisible Oranges

Austin trio Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol share the first single from their forthcoming album Doom Wop today via Invisible Oranges. Hear and share "Shoo In" HERE. (Direct Bandcamp.)

RBBP kick off tour dates supporting King Buffalo in late September, followed by headlining shows across the US in October. Please see current dates below.

With their 5th studio release, Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol is putting a name to the style of fuzzed out, overdriven, melodic, groovy music they have been making since 2016. In 9 concise, no bullshit songs, RBBP demonstrates their ability to blend the merciless low end of Leo Lydon’s 8-String guitar, Aaron Metzdorf’s masterful chordwork on the bass, and Sean St.Germain’s driving drumwork. Lydon and Metzdorf’s vocal melodies cut through the high frequencies to deliver fresh layers to the hooks that RBBP fans have come to love.

As the name implies, “Doom Wop” is a heavy, melody-driven, party metal album. With riffs as big and dumb as ever, and lyrics that stab at the worst members of society and ourselves (while keeping tongue firmly in cheek), listeners will find all the elements that make up the soul of RBBP on this record. “Doom Wop” will be available everywhere September 23rd.

Doom Wop will be available on CD and download on September 23rd, 2022. Vinyl LP release date TBD. Pre-orders are available HERE.
