Let Bygones be by-

What can be said about Bygones? Have you heard of Hella? Tera Melos? These bands don't need words to get their point across. So logically, a project bred from their members Zach Hill (drums, vocals) & Nick Reinhart (guitar, bass, vocals) is equally successful at rendering listeners speechless. Check out "Click On That (Smash The Plastic Death)" HERE.

Come August 4th, Bygones' debut album by- will most certainly render even the most loquacious and easily-distracted dumbfounded. It's a sinewy, wired mass of riffs and rhythms tightly wound around a uniquely pop heart. The duo fits more riffs and ideas into one song than most bands fit into a whole album. It's tireless, and nearly infinite in the sheer quantity of ideas to unravel.

Most everyone familiar with Zach Hill knows he's an equally tireless collaborator. Just take a look at his impressive Wikipedia page. Along with Hella, he also performs with Marnie Stern and in El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Team Sleep (with Chino Moreno of Deftones), Goon Moon, Crime In Choir and a host of others. In a recent news story, Pitchfork quipped of his ridiculously busy schedule, "at this rate, Hill's probably going to need to clone himself."

Can we play the game of stepping out of the bounds of what's expected to the point where we're no longer sure if we believe in anything anymore? Is there a point? Bygones are a product of our age. Let's not over-analyze. Let's not look for cultural pertinence. Let's not be stymied by tradition, or by the desire to react against it. Let's not pander. Instead, let's rejoice in both our common bonds and our eccentricities. Let's own it. And, let Bygones be by-.

Bygones debut album by- will be released by Sargent House on August 4th on both CD and 12" Vinyl. Pre-sales begin on July 1st.

Post Honeymoon launches US tour and album this week

Post Honeymoon launches US tour and album this week; former Bang! Bang! and New Black married duo is the dark sound of love

"Nick and Rachel have stripped down rock music to its core elements, and began building a new foundation, a new sound. Just as in marriage their sound builds slowly, but contained within are moment of both joy and rage. Aggressive and impressively forceful." -- The Deli Chicago

What happens when the honeymoon ends? In the case of Chicago duo Post Honeymoon, a couple starts making beautiful music together. And now, they're taking the dark sounds of their forthcoming debut on the road across the US starting tomorrow. Please see full dates below.

The newlywed band of vocalist/keyboardist Rachel Shindelman and drummer/bassist/vocalist Nick Kraska had originally played together in popular synth-punk outfits Bang! Bang! (Morphius Records) and New Black (Thick/Southern). Following the demise of their former bands and their ensuing marriage, Nick and Rachel formed Post Honeymoon and began winning over Windy City audiences with their stripped-down and dark, churning rock. Check out the track "Night Guard" HERE and "First World Problems" HERE.

Post Honeymoon recorded its self-titled debut (watch a short in-studio clip here) which has been said to echo the sultry and urgent sounds of Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Motels, Suicide and Love & Rockets (minus the guitars) with revered engineer Greg Norman (Russian Circles, Pelican). The self-titled disc is scheduled for release June 9th via the Chicago collective record label, Two Thumbs Down (The Hood Internet, Sleep Out).

Post Honeymoon's roots go back to a summer night in 2001, when Nick met Rachel and brought her to a show at Chicago's Empty Bottle. It took them three years to start playing together and another three to get married, go on their first vacation and start their own outfit.

We were unable to confirm at this writing if the duo's van will be dragging empty cans strung to the bumper and "post honeymoon" written on the windows in soap. We can only hope.
