90s Washington, DC band Kerosene 454 share the first single today from the forthcoming reissue of their 1996 album Came By To Kill Me on Solid Brass Records. Hear/share "Tracer" on DSPs HERE and Bandcamp.
Originally released in 1996 as a Slowdime / Dischord Records split label release, Kerosene 454’s sophomore album Came By To Kill Me, is now back in print after 28 years.
Hailing from the Maryland/Washington DC area, Kerosene 454 existed from 1992-1998. They released three albums, five seven-inch records, and appeared on several compilations. One of the hardest working bands at the time, they played extensively across the U.S., Europe, and Japan with bands like Bluetip, Boys Life, Hoover, The VSS, Karate, The Dismemberment Plan, Unwound and more.
Came By to Kill Me were the first recordings written exclusively with drummer Darren Zentek (formerly of the band, Glendale) and came at a time when the band felt like they were moving at 100 miles per hour. The album was recorded over 6 days in the summer of 1996 with J. Robbins (Jawbox, Magpie Cage Studio) and Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios with help from Juan Carrera (Warmers, Slowdime Records).
In September, the band announced a partnership with Solid Brass Records to begin work on reissuing their catalog. Came By To Kill Me has been completely remastered from the original tapes by Dan Coutant at Sunroom Audio in Cornwall, NY. Came By To Kill Me will be available digitally for the first time ever as well as limited edition vinyl variants for Solid Brass Records (Silver Smoke), indie retailers (Eco Graphite), and BCore Records (Cloudy Clear) in Spain.
Came By To Kill Me will be available on Limited Edition LP and digital on January 24th, 2025 via Solid Brass Records. Pre-orders are available HERE.
