OSDM, crust/d-beat band Oak, Ash & Thorn share new single from upcoming EP via Heavy Blog is Heavy

"I've absolutely fallen in love with their d-beat inflected, richly expressive take on death metal. This is nothing more than well made, thought out, and passionately performed metal that runs on the wild and epic sound we love here on Heavy Blog." -- Heavy Blog is Heavy

Denver quartet Oak, Ash & Thorn share the A-side to their forthcoming 2-song EP today via Heavy Blog Is Heavy. The EP is out in May via new California label Lost Future Records. Hear and share "Distant Mountains, Distant Gods" and read the shining review HERE. (Direct Bandcamp.)

Oak, Ash & Thorn arose from Colorado’s Rocky Mountain front range out of a collective passion for heavy metal and old-world paganism. Singer / guitarist Adam Armstrong pulled together a band consisting of guitarist Jason Harding, bassist Erik Hoffman and drummer Cierra White in 2015 and began honing their crushing, OSDM sound by playing plenty of shows in and around the Denver heavy metal scene. Their first album titled May Every Altar Linger was self-released Fall of 2018, followed by a slew of national shows. The band teamed up with Fabian Jiru of Trollfest/Fleshmeadow to record their second release, To Gaze on Stars of Frost, released in May of 2021. In 2022, the band embarked on two successful runs of shows through the northern plains and the Pacific Northwest.

Having cultivated a fruitful and creative connection, the band has once again joined forces with Jiru to track 2 brand new singles, “Unchain the Wolf” and “Distant Mountains, Distant Gods” mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio. On the strength of these, the band is proud and excited to announce that they've signed with California's Lost Future Records, with whom they'll record and release a follow-up EP in the second half of 2023. Next up, the band embarks on an East Coast US tour in May in support of Quebec's Aeternam and NYC's Solemn Vision.

‘Unchain the Wolf’ is heavily influenced by crust/d-beat bands like Anti-Cimex, Tragedy, and Martyrdöd, while still leaning into the melodic, OSDM sound that defines the Oak, Ash & Thorn sound. Lyrically, it uses the legend of Fenrir, the wolf that devours the world at the end of time, to conjure dark images of family strife and personal pain.

‘Unchain the Wolf’ will be out digitally and on 7-inch single with the b-side ‘Distant Mountains, Distant Gods’ on May 19th from Lost Future Records. Pre-orders are available HERE
