“MoonKill live somewhere in the world of darkened punk realms where all things Danzig are held sacred…There's something in the band that feels very much like you're driving West on I-10 in an old Cadillac with your hair blowing from beneath your cowboy hat...basically Danzig fronting Clutch.” — Austin Town Hall
Austin band MoonKill share another track from their forthcoming demo today via Austin Town Hall. The band is currently in the studio wrapping up recording their debut full length album with producer Roky Moon (American Sharks) at his King Electric Recording studio. The Kong Sessions demos are the first music released from the band, as an introduction and harbinger of things to come. Hear/share "Murderhouse" HERE. (Direct Bandcamp.)
Crooning & howling vocals, spacey guitar tones, and catchy riffs, backed by driving drums: Austin quartet MoonKill cut to the chase with aggressive punk-metal fury. Take the dark campy melodies and vocal prowess of early Misfits, crossed with the churning, buzzing rage of American Sharks and Red Fang.
MoonKill was formed when 4 longtime friends realized they all had intersecting musical interests. Borrowing elements from their previous acts, the members brought punk, hardcore, space rock, and even new wave styles together to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Their self-produced, 3 song EP, The Kong Sessions, was a limited release during Summer '23. The band is currently working on a full length album with producer Roky Moon (whom, it should be noted, the band does not wish to kill), set to be released October 31, 2023.
The Kong Sessions demo will be available to download on September 22nd, 2023.
