Tera Melos launch November tour with Maps & Atlases

"Once in a rare while an album comes along that's so fresh and ingenious it redefines what's possible in a field of music. It's been some time since a trio armed with guitar, drums, bass and vocals have shattered the boundaries of convention and pushed the limits of their instruments and compositions like a graceful tsunami of invention. " -- Exclaim!

"Tera Melos has ferociously explored the outer limits of bizarre time signatures and unhinged thrash since its self-titled 2005 debut. But the band's full-length, Patagonian Rats is more akin to the type of freak-pop perversion dished out by daring pioneers like Devo and The Flaming Lips." -- Wired.com

Sacramento genre-benders Tera Melos have launched US tour dates supporting Chicago's acclaimed musical morphologists Maps & Atlases in November, followed by a handful of headlining dates. Tera Melos recently wrapped up a headlining US tour before immediately launching a 3-week tour in Asia with Mike Watt and the Missing Men. Please see complete tour dates below.

Tera Melos recently released their highly-anticipated full-length Patagonian Rats via Sargent House. The album has thus far been met with raves from Wired.com, Exclaim!, ALARM Press (Album Of the Week), Impose Magazine and more.

In celebration of the album's release, Wired.com posted the exclusive premiere of the video from the album for the song "Frozen Zoo" (watch it HERE.) Both the videos for "Frozen Zoo" and the first clip previously released for the song "The Skin Surf" were directed by Behn Fannin (The Melvins, Nurses). Watch "The Skin Surf" HERE.

Patagonian Rats is packed with melodic hooks and jabs that on paper might seem to defy the band's experimental edge. There's even clear and distinct vocals throughout -- a first for the band, where vocals, if any, were previously awash with distortion and layered in the mix. But, particulars aside, Patagonian Rats is the type of album that sticks with you.
Tera Melos formed in 2004 as a quartet, releasing their first self-titled disc in 2005 (later re-released by Sargent House in 2008). The band became a trio in late 2006, releasing the Drugs to the Dear Youth EP early the following year. A split disc with By The End of Tonight (2007) on Temporary Residence and an EP of cover songs, Idioms, Vol 1 followed in 2009. In the meantime, Reinhart collaborated with prolific drummer Zach Hill under the band name bygones, releasing the by- album in 2009 and Spiritual Bankruptcy EP in 2010, both on Sargent House. Clardy has also recently spent downtime as the touring drummer with guitar goddess Marnie Stern.
